March 2025

  • 19th March: APPG Members met with the UNFPA Asia Pacific Regional Director in Parliament for a briefing meeting on country programmes and what is happening on the ground in several key crisis countries including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Myanmar and Pakistan.

  • 18th March: APPG members are amongst the European politicians signing EPF’s Joint Statement on the Global Rise of Disinformation in Sexual and Reproductive Health Policies.

  • 17th March: APPG members met with UK SRHR Network representatives to discuss the impact of UK and USA aid cuts on SRHR.

  • 12th March: APPG members sign the EPF Joint Statement ‘Turn On the Lights: A Call to Defend Women’s Rights in the Face of Rising Authoritarianism’ at CSW.

  • 12th March: The APPG on Global SRHR was represented at the The USC Institute on Inequalities in Global Health webinar ‘Advancing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights: Moving Forward post-the 2024 US Election’.

  • 11th March: The APPG on Global SRHR was represented at the International Development Committee’s evidence session: ‘Humanitarian access and adherence to international humanitarian law’.

  • 10th March: The APPG on Global SRHR was represented at the opening ceremony of CSW69 by Baroness Hussein-Ece, Baroness Northover and Baroness Sugg. Read Secretary-General António Guterres opening statement here.

  • 8th March: Baroness Harriet Harman, APPG on Global SRHR member, is appointed as the Government’s Special Envoy for Women and Girls.

  • 7th March: Ahead of International Women's Day tomorrow, launched an inquiry looking into how the UK Government is incorporating the UN's Women, Peace and Security agenda into UK aid programmes.

  • 5th March: The APPG on Global SRHR held the second of their oral evidence sessions for the upcoming hearing report on SRHR and Conflict, with members asking questions of UNFPA, GAPS Network, LSE, The Center for Reproductive Rights and FIGO.

  • 4th March: The APPG on Global SRHR was represented at the International Women’s Day Drop-in Event hosted by BGIPU and the APPG on Human Rights.

  • 3rd March: The APPG on Global SRHR was represented at the CARE International’s International Women’s Day Reception in Parliament.

February 2025

  • 26th February: The APPG on Global SRHR held the first of their oral evidence sessions for the upcoming hearing report on SRHR and Conflict, with members asking questions of representatives from MSI Reproductive Choices, Médecins Sans Frontières, IPPF, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and Plan International.

  • 25th February: Chair of the APPG on Global SRHR, Sarah Champion MP, responded to the Government’s announcement of cuts to the UK ODA budget in her capacity as Chair of the International Development Committee.

January 2025

  • 27th-31st January: EPF took a delegation of international parliamentarians, including APPG on Global SRHR representative Baroness Liz Sugg, to the Philippines for a study tour on sexual and reproductive health and rights. Delegates visited the Philippine House of Representatives, HIV and Family Planning services.

  • 20th January: The APPG on Global SRHR members and staff attended the APPG on SRH in the UK drop-in session for members on ‘Abortion Rights and Policy in the UK’, with representatives of SRHR organisations present to brief Members of Parliament and take questions.

December 2024

  • 11th December: The APPG on Global SRHR hosted a roundtable event on ‘Growing activism against sexual and reproductive health and rights’ in Parliament with Neil Datta from EPF and Rupa Huq MP as speakers.

November 2024

  • 27th November: The APPG on Global SRHR hosted a meeting on ‘Supporting Systems for Gender Based Violence Prevention and Protection’ with representatives from the UK Police and the Kingdom of Jordan’s Public Security Directorate

  • 26th November: The APPG on Global SRHR was represented at UK SRHR Network MNC subgroup meeting with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office

  • 20th November: The APPG on Global SRHR was represented at Action for Global Health and UK SRHR Network meetings with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office input

  • 19th November: The APPG on Global SRHR hosted a roundtable briefing meeting on The Global Financing Facility with The APPG on HIV/AIDS and RESULTS

  • 18th November: The APPG on Global SRHR co-hosted a parliamentary roundtable on the use of Lenacapavir for HIV prevention with StopAIDS and The APPG on HIV/AIDS

  • 15th November: Second reading of APPG member Baroness Hodgson’s ‘Women, Peace and Security Bill’, several APPG members spoke in the ensuing debate

  • 22nd October: The APPG on Global SRHR was represented at a UN (including UNFPA) IPU parliamentary briefing on humanitarian response for women and girls at the House of Commons
