March 2018

  • 23rd March: Members of the APPG on PDRH participated in a parliamentary debate on the Conscientious Objection (Medical Activities) Bill. You can find the debate here.

  • 20th March: Members of the APPG on PDRH participated in parliamentary oral questions on the home use of misoprostol. You can find the debate here.

  • 19th March: Baroness Jenny Tonge and Virendra Sharma MP attended a parliamentary meeting on reproductive health supplies by the European Parliamentary Forum on Population and Development (EPF) in Brussels.

  • 12th - 16th March: Baroness Hodgson and Pauline Latham MP attended the UN Commission on the Status of Women in New York.

  • 8th March: Members of the APPG on PDRH participated in parliamentary debates on International Women’s Day here and here.

  • 7th March 2018: The APPG on PDRH launched its hearing report ‘Who Decides? We Trust Women: Abortion in the developing world and the UK’.

February 2018

  • 28th February 2018: Baroness Jenny Tonge and Gareth Thomas MP attended IPPF’s ‘SheDecides’ event in Parliament.

  • 6th February: Baroness Jenny Tonge attended an event hosted jointly with the APPGs working on health to participate in a dialogue with MSc students.

  • 5th February: The APPG on PDRH and APPG for Sudan co-hosted a talk on maternal health and FGM in Sudan.

November 2017

  • 20th - 29th November: The APPG on PDRH hosted parliamentary hearings on abortion in the developing world and the UK.

  • 24th November: Baroness Jenny Tonge gave the welcoming speech at the BPAS dinner marking the 50th anniversary of the Abortion Act 1967.

  • 6th - 11th November: Members of the APPG on PDRH participated in a study tour to Ethiopia to look at family planning and sexual and reproductive health services. You can find the study tour report here.

  • 2nd - 3rd November: Baroness Jenny Tonge attended the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health annual conference.

October 2017

  • 24th - 25th October: Baroness Jenny Tonge attended the BPAS conference at the Royal College of Gynaecologists and Obstetricians to mark 50 years of the Abortion Act 1967.

  • 17th October: Members of the APPG on PDRH attended UNFPA’s State of The World Population 2017 report launch in London.

  • 12th October: The APPG on PDRH welcomed Ealing Council’s decision to ban anti-abortion protesters outside its Marie Stopes clinic. The press release can be found here.

  • 5th October: Members of the APPG on PDRH attended BPAS’ event marking 50 years of the UK Abortion Act.

September 2017

  • 26th - 28th September: The APPG on PDRH secretariat attended EuroNGOs’ annual conference in Brussels.

  • 14th September: The APPG on PDRH responded to the selection of the members to the Parliament’s International Development Select Committee. The press release can be found here.

August 2017

  • 28th - 29th August: Baroness Jenny Tonge attended the EPF ICPD Strategic Discussion with parliamentarians and UNFPA in Geneva.

  • 1st August: The APPG on PDRH announced short written submissions from interested organisations and individuals on abortion in the developing world and the UK. The press release can be found here.

July 2017

  • 11th July: Members of the APPG on PDRH attended the London Family Planning Summit hosted by DFID, the Gates Foundation and UNFPA.

  • 11th July: The APPG on PDRH, alongside IPPF and UNFPA, hosted a World Population Day reception in the House of Lords. Baroness Jenny Tonge gave the keynote speech.

  • 10th July: Members of the APPG on PDRH took part in several events leading up to World Population Day, including a Margaret Pyke and PSN population event, and the Family Planning Summit evening reception hosted by DFID, the Gates Foundation and UNFPA.

  • 6th July: The APPG on PDRH hosted a press luncheon for journalists and women’s magazines in the run up to World Population Day.

June 2017

  • 26th June: Members of the APPG on PDRH Committee had a briefing meeting with Matthew Lindley, IPPF on the extended ‘Global Gag Rule’ and its impact on funding and service delivery.
